Salaysay, a collective of Filipino/a/x writers in Toronto whose work spans genres and generations

It started in 2017 as the Pluma Writers’ Collective. More than 50 artists, writers and storytellers across the greater Toronto area are members of our volunteer-run collective.

“Salaysay” (pronounced ‘sah-lye-sigh’) means a story or narrative in the Tagalog language of the Philippines.

As a collective, we aspire to:

  • Promote and preserve Filipino culture in the diaspora

  • Amplify underrepresented voices

  • Facilitate cultural exchange and collaboration

  • Empower and advocate for the community

  • Support fellow artists and storytellers

  • Foster an environment where Filipino/a/x writers from all walks of life can express themselves through the literary arts
