Nastasha Alli
Nastasha’s interest in the history, traditions, and culture surrounding the foods of the Philippines led her to creating Exploring Filipino Kitchens, a blog and podcast where she has interviewed chefs, farmers, authors and home cooks across the world about their relationship with Filipino food.
She has received a Food Sustainability Media Award from the Thomson Reuters Foundation for her story on how the climate crisis affects breakfast foods in the Philippines. Her professional experience includes over 15 years in hospitality and travel services. She has presented at the Philippines’ first academic culinary conference; taught a course on food writing at George Brown College in Toronto; developed and facilitated cultural heritage workshops with community partners; hosted culinary events; and worked on global operations for travel companies.
Nastasha is working on her first novel, a fictional travel memoir (featuring lots of food!) set in the Philippines.
About my work
I write about food and travel on my blog and talk about mostly the same things on my podcast. I’m a lifelong learner of the Philippines’ incredibly rich foodways. History, heritage and traditions really are in every bite!
